So, I recently saw the movie Wedding Crashers. (Definitely worth a peek for a few laughs.) If you've seen the film, then you no doubt also remember the nympho (Isla Fisher) that was chasing after Vince Vaughn's character.
Apparently, back in the real world of L.A., she's now "stunned" by the number of women who stop her on the street - lonely gentlemen, take note - to "confide... that they really relate to her character". Now, I find this tid bit of celebrity news humorous, but not the least bit surprising and admit that it has little to do with the main point of this post except for the fact that in the the aforementioned, stunning link, it is said that Ms. Fisher is married to none other than Ali G (Sasha Baron Cohen) Which is interesting and relevant. Interesting to me because I freakin' love Ali G. and relevant b/c it led me to start digging up her profile on IMDB.com, then Sasha Baron Cohen's and ultimately led me over on to the BBC Guide to Comedy website, which is quite fun to poke around in. Go on, you'll enjoy it. Maybe.
"Da Ali G Show" has always cracked me up, but admittedly, I've never bothered to do any research on his career until today. Apparently, his big break (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) was on "The 11 O'Clock Show". If anyone has seen this, let me know what you thought about it. Sadly, it doesn't look like the Beeb has released any DVD's of it yet and I would love to see how the character's evolution and also, how the Brits reacted to his character. While checking up on the other work he's done, I ran across the BBC Comedy Guide entry for "Not The Nine O'Clock News", (which later on took life across the pond as one of my all time fav. 80's shows, "Not Necessarily the News") starring, among others, Rowan Atkinson.
That's about it. I suppose I could ramble on about how I find it kinda funny that Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson's characters in Wedding Crashers spend 1/2 of the film trying to get laid or getting laid and Isla Fisher's character is labeled the "nympho" despite her being focused primarily on hooking up with only one dude, but hey, why spoil a perfectly good Hollywood comedy?
